About the Opportunity 

 

Vision Infrastructure has undergone unprecedent growth since its establishment and is looking towards even stronger growth in the second half of 2021. As a result, we are currently seeking to appoint a Legal and Commercial Manager to compliment our existing team and drive high level outcomes for our organisation and its clients.

 

This role would ideally suit someone currently in an in-house legal/commercial role or a lawyer with strong commercial acumen looking to transition from private practice into a new and challenging environment.

 

Reporting to the Managing Director, this role is accountable for:

  • Leading our dynamic Brisbane offices.

  • Pre-contractual and project delivery legal and commercial support.

  • Providing commercial advice, conducting contractual reviews and leading contract negotiations.

  • Project claims and dispute management, including preparing key contractual notices, supporting the broader team in the management and negotiation of major claims and managing the dispute resolution process.

  • Risk management, processes and systems.

  • Advising on key project issues and finding best for project solutions.

  • Assessing and managing key risks and liabilities in construction project contracts.

  • Advising clients on pre- and post-contract commercial capability and consistency.

  • Commercial structuring and partnering arrangements.

  • Drafting, reviewing, negotiating, and advising on various construction contracts, as well as other ancillary project documents.

  • Advising on risk allocation and project delivery structures and strategies.

  • Participating in drafting, reviewing and advising on tender documentation and processes.

 

 About You



  • Minimum of 5 years’ legal and/or commercial experience in the engineering and construction industry is required.

  • Tertiary qualifications in law is required, however additional qualifications in either engineering, quantity surveying, business, finance or other relevant discipline would be beneficial.

  • Extensive experience in contract management practices, including best practice commercial/risk policies and procedures, project management, claims management, reporting and dispute resolution.

  • Experience within an in-house construction business or private practice law firm, dealing with either disputes or front-end construction matters.

  • A proactive approach to managing matters with the ability to manage standard legal/commercial matters in your own right.

  • Experience in different types of project and contractual structures.

  • High level of proficiency in Risk Management and proven ability to analyse project and early identification of risk.

  • Extensive experience in project delivery and construction claims management.

  • High level proficiency in contract/construction law and statutory and legal obligations for engineering and construction in Australia.

  • High level of proficiency to train and mentor others and lead by example.

  • Ability to identify opportunities, improvements and solutions that will enable you to plan and drive continuous initiatives for organisational improvement.

  • Highly effective communication style teamed with strong inter-personal, negotiation and influencing skills.

  • Collaborative approach and demonstrated ability to influence organisational culture.

  • Proven ability to work with minimal supervision, as well as prioritise and work well under pressure.

  • Excellent oral and written skills

  • Strong organisational and time management skills

  • Self-motivated and able to use initiative and work with minimum supervision

  • Ability to set personal workloads, prioritise, observe time constraints and plan and coordinate adherence to deadlines

  • Excellent attention to detail and an ability to follow process thoroughly

  • Willing to learn new skills

  • A "Can Do" attitude to consistently ensure the completion of the daily workload
