International Women's Day 2022

Updated: Mar 8, 2022

“Women belong in all places where decisions are being made. … It shouldn't be that women are the exception.”

- Ruth Bader Ginsburg

International Women’s Day is a day to celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. The day also marks a call to action for accelerating gender parity.

The theme for 2022 International Women’s Day is #breakthebias. This theme is asking people to call out and stop gender bias and inequity, whilst celebrating the achievements of women.

At Vision Infrastructure we celebrate the achievements of women broadly, and more particularly, achievements made by the women in our business and within the construction industry. With women comprising only 12 percent of the construction workforce, change is needed to level the playing field in the construction industry. Bias’ need to be broken down.

The women of Vision Infrastructure lead by example when it comes to celebrating achievements and breaking down bias. We work in a business, and culture that provides individualised flexibility to support family units, a clear leadership and development program and equal pay structures within an overarching inclusive environment.

At Vision Infrastructure lifting up women in construction is how we operate. Our Commercial, Risk and Governance Director, Kelly Hair, says “ My responsibility as a leader in our organisation, to mentor and role model for the women in my team, is one I take very seriously. I love working in the construction industry, and I love working at Vision. I want more women to look to construction as a industry in which they want to build a career. And I want women to love it as much as I do, to be afforded the opportunities, flexibility and working environments I have experienced over my career.

I believe I have a responsibility to provide support and guidance to women in the construction industry, or women thinking about a role in the construction industry, so a more diverse industry evolves”.

Empowered women are agents of change. At Vision we celebrate and empower all of our people everyday, and actively work towards breaking down inherent bias in our industry. #internationalwomensday2022 #breakthebias
